On 11 May 2025 in Prishtina, Bi Medical Academy, in cooperation with Medency, organised “The Diode Laser in Dentistry – Hands-on”, bringing together dental professionals from Kosovo and across the region.
Led by Dr. Rudina Rustemaj, the programme provided comprehensive knowledge ranging from the fundamental operating principles of diode laser technology to its clinical application techniques. The main objective of the training was to introduce dentists to modern soft-tissue laser techniques, highlight the importance of laser technology in contemporary dentistry and provide participants with new methods that could be incorporated into their daily clinical practice.
The theoretical part of the programme covered the physical characteristics of diode lasers, principles of correct use, clinical indications and the advantages they provide in different treatment areas. Clinical approaches aimed at increasing precision, control and effectiveness in soft-tissue procedures were presented through practical examples.
During the hands-on part of the training, participants had the opportunity to work directly with Medency diode laser systems. Using real biological tissue models with lamb heads, the dentists practised laser incision, tissue shaping and various soft-tissue techniques in a controlled environment. This practical experience reinforced the theoretical knowledge and created a more effective and lasting learning process.
The training was also attended by Medency representative David Gjogjevic, who provided detailed information about the technological features, clinical applications and benefits of the laser systems used during the programme. Participants had the opportunity to communicate directly with both the trainer and the brand representative and receive comprehensive answers to their clinical and technical questions.
