On 17 June 2020, at a time when in-person training and professional meetings could not be held due to the pandemic, Bi Medical, in cooperation with Orthero, for which we are the exclusive distributor in Kosovo, organised the online programme “Aligner Treatment Education.”
The webinar attracted strong interest from dentists and orthodontic professionals across Kosovo and was delivered by Aydın Dikkulak, one of the co-founders of Orthero. The programme gave participants the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge of modern clear aligner technologies and communicate directly with a member of the system’s founding team.
The main objective of the programme was to introduce practitioners to the operating principles of the Orthero system and support the correct management of treatment from initial assessment through to clinical application. The training emphasised that clear aligner treatment should be approached comprehensively, covering diagnosis, clinical records, planning and practical implementation.
The programme began with an overview of the advantages of the Orthero system and the treatment possibilities it offers for different clinical cases. Participants received guidance on appropriate case selection, assessing patient expectations and defining suitable treatment objectives.
One of the key topics was the preparation of clinical records required for treatment planning. The programme explained how to take accurate impressions, prepare standardised intraoral and facial photographs, and understand the impact of these records on digital treatment planning.
Aydın Dikkulak also presented the Orthero treatment workflow, the evaluation of digital treatment plans and the key areas that require clinical review by the practitioner. It was emphasised that a digitally prepared plan is not sufficient on its own and must be carefully reviewed and managed by the clinician according to the treatment objectives.
The clinical section of the webinar addressed interproximal reduction (IPR) and attachment placement. Participants learned about the importance of performing these procedures with appropriate indications, correct measurements and full consistency with the treatment plan to support successful clinical outcomes.
Delivered in English through an online platform, the programme reached a broad audience. The high level of participation from Kosovo demonstrated the strong interest of dental professionals in continuing education and modern orthodontic treatment, despite the restrictions of the pandemic.
During the pandemic, Bi Medical supported online educational opportunities to ensure that healthcare professionals could continue accessing scientific training. We regarded digital education as an important tool for providing clinicians with safe access to international experts, current clinical knowledge and innovative technologies.
